Same Sex Weddings in Lake TahoeThe Supreme Court of California ruled on May 15, 2008 that banning same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. This opens the door for gay couples to join in matrimony right here in beautiful Lake Tahoe (California only). While the wedding must be in California, the couples do not have to be from California. There are considerations which must be addressed for out of state couples. Your home state may not recognize your marriage and in some cases (Wisconsin and Delaware) you may be breaking laws. There is a chance that a November ballot initiative could amend the California Constitution to provide that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California. The general feeling is that even if this happens, marriages entered into between now and then would still be valid, although it is difficult to tell how courts will rule when there is no precedent.
