Lake Tahoe's Natural Wedding Sites
Lake Tahoe's natural beauty means that opportunities for scenic weddings
abound. These often are the most economical weddings available as well.
In most cases, the fee for having the wedding is only $50. While your
savings can be substantial, it usually requires some work on your part.
Here are some of the south and west shore's most beautiful locations.
Regan Beach- Lush lawn overlooking the
Lake Tahoe.
Glen Alpine Falls- Roadside waterfall for
small weddings.
Emerald Bay- Many choices here (and its
where I got married).
Tahoe Paradise Park- Located on Lake
Baron and Truckee River
Logan Shoals- Overlooking Lake Tahoe from
the eastern shore
Angora Lakes- Scenic alpine lake for very
small ceremonies
Here are some tips to help save you some time or worry. When you check
out the location in advance keep in mind several things.
1. The terrain. Many of the more beautiful locations will require a short
hike. How will this affect your guests? Even some just off the roadside
have steep stairs to an overlook. How will this affect your dress or shoe
selection?
2. The condition of the area. Many of these places are photographed when
they are looking their best. The lawn at Regan Beach is gorgeous. But
if a sprinkler breaks the week before your wedding, it will be a brown
sandy mess. It's good to have someone in town to check on these things
for you. At a minimum, you should have someone available to rake, pick
up pine cones, etc before your ceremony. Any stairways to beaches will
likely be covered with sand as well.
3. The season. If your wedding is in September, don't choose a location
because of a waterfall. It simply won't be there. Also, consider mid-October
through mid-May to be 'outdoor wedding at your own risk' season.
4. The public. Since most of these sites are public, it is a good idea
to have your ceremony early, especially in the summer months. This will
ensure at least a minimal amount of privacy for you.
5. Parking. In the summer months, parking is at a premium everywhere in
the Tahoe Basin.
