Wedding Tips and Hints

Because we know that most of our users don't live within 100 miles of Lake Tahoe we have prepared this list of hint and tips, as well as some good questions to ask the vendors you are considering. On this page you'll find just some general questions you should as all vendors. But you'll also find link links to tips related to different parts of your wedding.or different types of weddings.

Questions for all vendors

Below is a list of general questions you should ask just about anyone you're paying to be a part of your wedding. These guidelines do not apply to all cases, but you should be able to tell when you need them.

  1. The price. What will this cost us, bottom line, including taxes, gratuities, travel, etc?
  2. When is it due? Some require payment up front, some after the event.
  3. What forms of payment do you accept. Don't assume they will all accept credit cards. Don't assume any will accept checks.
  4. What deposit do you require? When do you require it? Is it, or a part of it, refundable?
  5. Is there a contract? Not everyone has them. If they don't, get some sort of written confirmation as to what they will provide.
  6. What are your cancellation policies?
  7. Is the date available?
  8. How long have you been in the wedding business? This is more important for some vendors than others. You're probably ok with a new restaurant doing their first wedding. A caterer doing their first event might be a different story.
  9. When will you arrive? If somebody is going to noshow (it happens), you want to know the minute they are late so you can attempt to make other arrangements. Get a cell phone number when possible so you can call if it happens. Chances are they are just stuck in Tahoe's summer traffic.
  10. Do you have references? Ideally, these will be in the form of people you can call, rather than written. That's not always possible, however.
  11. If they are present during the ceremony/reception, how will they dress?
