Tips for choosing a Lake Tahoe wedding photographer
Here is the short list of questions to ask your photography candidates.
It's not all inclusive. Don't forget the standard
questions you should ask all vendors.
- "Where can we see your work?" Keep in mind the medium in
which you view the portfolio. Online, resolutions are limited by your
monitor to 72 pixels/inch. It's easier to hide imperfections in this
mode, but if your wedding pictures are going to be online, you'll want
to see how they are presented here too. The ideal situation (though
geography often prevents this) is to see a printed portfolio in the
album/format you will be receiving and the online gallery as it will
be presented, both from your photographer, rather than just the company's
portfolio.
- What will the schedule be for the photos? Taking the family photos
before the ceremony will get everyone to the reception much more quickly.
- How many photographers will be present for each part of the day? It's
very difficult for one photographer to get all angles, especially during
the ceremony.
- Ask specific questions about the location. "We're getting married
at Edgewood in August at 6 pm. Where can we get the best shots?"
A good photographer with experience at the location should know how
the light will be, when the sun sets, etc.
- Make certain your photographer is aware of and can handle any eventualities that may occur. For example, will they have the proper lighting available should weather force you to move an outdoor wedding indoors?
- If you are planning a winter wedding, ask for samples of winter pictures. Capturing the light properly in all white snowy conditions can be very difficult, especially without the proper equipment.
